Photography Q&A (plus my favorite project)
Saturday, February 9th, 2008
9am-3pm coffee, donuts and bagels will be provided for breakfast (lunch won't be served so bring a snack or lunch with you)
6 hour workshop $75.00
This class is Sold Out!
It’s a photography class geared at sending you out the door taking better photos. We’ll be covering the basics right along with the more technical aspect of photography, like aperture, shutter speed, ISO settings, white balance and long term storage (but don’t let the fancy terms make you nervous – I’ll be explaining it all in words that make sense).
This class started out as a 2 hour Q&A and has evolved into a 6 hour class centered around hands-on learning and clear visual examples. We’ll be covering over 50 different topics in class, which pertain to anyone who is seriously interested in photography. Students who own or are considering purchasing a higher end camera (a camera with manual options and the ability to change lenses) will benefit most from this class, although I’ve had plenty of people in class with point & shoot style cameras (although they usually leave class with a new camera on their Christmas wish-list).
*And you’ll take home the supplies to complete a 6x7.75x3.25 photo box (perfect for storing all of your favorite 4x6 photos) with ten 3x3 mini chipboard books. You will get to select 6 sheets of pattern paper from the Oasis before class so that you can customize your own project.
Products included in class kits (you will be receiving nearly $40.00 in retail product):
Danelle Book Box (an $18.00 retail value)
Narratives Antique Medley Swatchbook
1 metal frame
1 yard white trim
6 sheets of patterned paper (students will choose paper from the Oasis on the day of class)
*Also for students who have already taken the class, it would be a good refresher and a good opportunity to ask questions/discuss things that they have been practicing from the last class. When I taught this class at the Oasis before, it was 4 hours and that included the time to make the photo box…now it is 6 hours for the lecture only and the students make the photo box at home.
You will need the following supplies to complete your photo boxes at home. No need to bring these supplies with you to class.
- Paper trimmer
- Exacto knife
- Liquid glue
- Large glue dots
- Medium grit sandpaper or sanding block
- White and/or cream acrylic paint (Making Memories Spotlight and Manila)
- 2 Foam brushes
- Golden Artist Color Matte Medium or Modge Podge (optional but recommended)
- Aleene’s Thick Designer Tacky Glue (optional but recommended)
- Rub-on tool (optional but recommended)
*All classes are prepaid with no refunds or cancellations. If you are unable to attend, you can send someone in your spot or we will save a class kit for you. Because is a lecture class, we recommend sending someone in your place if you are unable to attend.
