So, we have been pondering and pondering about what to do for National Scrapbook Day and our hearts keep returning to the same desire, the desire to give back. We have been wanting to do a crop for the Tsunami victims of Japan, so we have decided to combine the two events into one. What better way to give back than through a craft we all enjoy so much? So here are some of the ideas we have so far:
- As a part of this special crop we will be making cards to send to relief centers to let survivors know they are being thought of. There will be free supplies and card sketches, so it will be a breeze to make the cards. We thought it would be fun if any of our fellow followers are fluent in Japanese and would like to volunteer a hour or so of their time the cards can be written in their native language. You know, just to personalize them!
- Since this event is all about giving if anyone knows of a local restaurant/restaurants that would like to donate lunch or dinner for that day, let us know. After all, the more we raise and save the more we can give!
- There will also be a clothing drive - It's winter right now in Japan so any old jackets or sweaters, quilts or blankets, bring them in and we will get them into the hands that will get them to the right destination.
- Finally, If any of you, oh so talented individuals out there would like to donate their artwork, whether it be a painting, mini album, jewelry, fabric pieces or any item - you name it, we will be holding a silent auction during the day to help raise even more monies.
I'm not sure how everyone else feels, but it's hard not to give when so many are in need.
